Fall & Indoor Club Team Eval Info

Fall Club Evals (u10, u12, u14 Teams)

Is your player interested in challenging their game and playing at a higher level? If YES - then you should join one of our Fall Club Teams! Attend our Club Team Evals in July to be evaluated.

Legacy is excited to enter our 5th official Fall Season as a Club Team! We have continued to grow and develop over the past few years, and are excited to see our players compete again this fall! We are always looking for new athletes to add to our family. Come and check out what MDL is all about and attend our Fall Club Team Evals.

Fall Eval Details:

  • Who: u10, u12, & u14

    • u10 Birth Dates: 8/2015 & younger

      • There are NO CUTS for our u10 athletes. They are asked to attend tryouts as an opportunity to play and for our coaches to meet them, but everyone who wants to play will have a spot on the team. The team will be limited to 12 athletes, so registering for tryouts will reserve your spot on the team.

    • u12 Birth Dates: 8/2013 - 7/2015

    • u14 Birth Dates: 8/2011 - 7/2013

  • When:

    • Monday 7/14 @ 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Summer League (K - 9th Grade)

MDL will be hosting our 3rd Annual School Summer League! This year for the first time ever - we will have a K-2nd and 3rd-5th grade Leagues! Grab your friends to form a team (or join one of our house teams) and join us this summer! Help us spread and grow field hockey in Frederick, Carroll and Montgomery Counties. We also had some players from PA join us last year!

Summer League Details:

  • Who: Rising K - 9th Graders (Fall 2025)

    • K-2nd Grade League

    • 3rd - 5th Grade League (inexperienced 5th graders)

    • 5th - 9th Grade League (experienced 5th graders)

  • When: Sundays @ 5:00pm - 8:00pm

    • 6 Weeks: 6/22, 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20 & 7/27

      • K - 2nd @ 5:00pm - 7:00pm

      • 3rd - 5th @ 5:00pm - 7:00pm

      • 5th - 9th @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm

League Set-up:

The League set-up will depend on the # of players who register. Tentatively, we are planning on playing 7v7 for the first 3 weeks (6/22-7/6), and then end the league with full field 11v11 for the final 3 weeks (7/13-7/27).

  • Why 7v7?

    • When players are younger and learning how to move on the field - 7v7 is extremely important! Since there are less players on the field, every player will get a ton of touches on the ball during game play (and can’t hide!). Typically, during 11v11, the field is so big that only a few of the more aggressive players will play and touch the ball, while more timid or inexperienced players will hide and rarely touch the ball! If you’re going to improve and fall in love with the game - you need to play and touch the ball as much as possible during the games! Feeling like you made an impact on your team is fun and what encourages players to continue playing and growing!

  • Why 11v11?

    • Once players get to HS - they will play full field 11v11. So, it’s important that we start teaching them the full field game at the MS age! They will then have 1-3 years to work on their 11v11 game, so they are ready to kick butt and feel confident during tryouts for their HS team!

Clinic Info:

Are you looking to develop and improve your fundamental skills? We will be hosting a 4 day (6hrs worth of instruction) Clinic to supplement our MS League! We will work on stickwork, passing & receiving, defensive skills, and small game/possession during the Clinic.

    • Tuesday 6/17 & 6/24

    • Thursday 6/19 & 6/26

  • Time: 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Do Players need to have prior playing experience?

No! Prior playing experience is NOT required to play in the MS League! However, it is recommended that they attend the Clinic (or one of the Summer FH Camps that some of our local High Schools are hosting this summer as a fundraiser for their programs!) to learn the fundamental skills and gain confidence for their Sunday League games!

Field Hockey is still growing in Frederick County, so our goal is to get a field hockey stick in the hands of as many players as possible! Did you know that at least half of the HS teams in Frederick County don’t have enough players to form a JV team each season? We need to work together to FIX that problem! In order for FH to become more competitive in Frederick County (and for one of our teams to hopefully bring home a State Championship some year!), we need to grow FH so that EVERY HS team has a JV team where they can learn and develop their game before the Varsity level!

So long answer short - grab your friends (whether they have played FH before or not) and let’s grow FH together this summer!

Summer Clinic

Are you looking to develop and improve your fundamental skills? We will be hosting a 4 day Clinic (6hrs worth of instruction) to supplement our Summer League! Players can sign-up to attend the Clinic ONLY or they can register for the Clinic + Summer League option.

We will work on stickwork, passing & receiving, defensive skills, and small game/possession during the Clinic.

Clinic is open to BRAND NEW and experienced players. Players will be divided into appropriate age and skill level groups.

3v3 Summer League

Join MDL for our 1st annual 3v3+GK Summer League. This League is for HS, College and Adult FH players looking for some FH fun this Summer! Grab your friends to form a team (6 players/team recommendation) or join one of our House Teams. If you have a Goalkeeper - AWESOME! If not, we will try to find you one for each game. Teams will compete in small field, fast paced 3v3 games. Each game will be 7-10min long, and teams will get to compete in a few games each night. Games will be fast which will help your stick skills in tight spaces and speed up your field vision and hockey IQ.

This is the best way to get into FH shape with your HS & College friends this summer! No coaches - just fun with friends!

3v3 + GK League Details:

  • Who: HS (9th - 12th grade), College and Adult players

Are you registering with a team or group of friends? Please list your team name or teammate requests during registration. Any players not registered with a specific team/teammates will be placed on one of the “House Teams.”

Summer Field Hockey Camp

Join MDL and your favorite coaches this summer for our 5th annual Summer Field Hockey Camp! This camp is geared for players of all ages and skills levels. We will teach BRAND NEW players the basics and fundamentals, while challenging and pushing our more experienced players to learn new skills and improve their hockey IQ on the field. Level up your game this Summer, so you can dominate your Fall Season!

Goalkeepers - this camp is for YOU too! Coach Ying will be hosting a GK specific camp during our summer camp! So suit-up and join us this summer!

Summer Camp:

  • Who: Rising 2nd - 9th Graders (Fall 2025)

    • GKs = Rising 2nd - 12th Graders
