High School Indoor League (Rising 9th - 12th Grade)
Grab your HS teammates and form a team for the 4th Annual MDL High School Winter Indoor League! Don't have enough HS teammates interested to form an entire team? Don't worry, we will group you with other HS teams in the same situation or you can join our House Team! Which HS will WIN the 2026 HS Indoor League Championship?! The reigning champ is: Walkersville HS!
HS Indoor League Info:
Who: Current 8th - 12th Graders
League Dates: Sundays 1/11 - 3/1 (6 weeks)
No League 1/18 (MLK Weekend) or 2/8 (Super Bowl)
League Game Times: 5:30pm - 9:30pm
Each team will have a 1hr time slot during this time frame. Your 1hr time slot will most likely change each week based on your team’s game schedule. No team will be there for 5 hours on Sundays!

Youth Winter Indoor Leagues (PreK - 8th Grade)
Join us for our 3rd annual Youth Winter Indoor Leagues! Our goal is to continue growing the sport of FH in Frederick, Carroll and Montgomery Counties by giving kids the opportunity to develop their skills (or learn a new sport!) year-round with our experienced coaches. Grab your friends and form your own team, or be placed on a team and make some new friends!
This League is geared towards players who are newer to indoor field hockey. We will teach the indoor FH game and rules, as well as the skills that are needed to be successful on the court!

Hermit Crab League: Saturdays 1/3 - 2/14 (6 weeks)
No League 1/17 (MLK weekend)
ES League: Saturdays 12/27 - 2/28 (10 weeks)
Practices: 12/27, 1/3, 1/17, 1/31 (4 weeks)
League Game Days: 1/10, 1/24, 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28 (6 weeks)
MS League: Saturdays 12/27 - 2/28 (10 weeks)

League Set-up:
Hermit Crab League: Players will come for 1hr/wk for 6 weeks. They will learn and develop their FH fundamentals for 40min, and then play in a game for 20min each week.
ES and MS League: This League will be 10 weeks. Each team will have 4 weeks of team practices (1.5hrs/wk), so they can learn the indoor game and indoor specific skills that will make them successful on the court. During the 6 weeks of League Game Days, each team will be assigned a 1.5hr session. This session time may change each week based on your game schedule. During the 1.5hr Game Session, teams will have 40min to warm-up and have a “mini-practice” prior to their game. They will then have a 45min game (2x 20min halves with 5min halftime).
For example, during League Game Day #1 your team is assigned the ES League Session #1 vs another team. Both teams will show up from 10:00am - 11:30am. Each team will have half the court to warm-up and have their “mini practice” session.
10:00am - 10:40am = Warm-up & Practice Session
10:45am - 11:05am = 1st Half of Game
11:05am - 11:10am = 5min Halftime
11:10am - 11:30am = 2nd Half of Game
Equipment Needed:
The following equipment is needed for our Youth Indoor Leagues:
Indoor FH Stick (these are cheaper than outdoor sticks! And, a lot of great Black Friday sales are coming up! Check out: Longstreth!)
Hermit Crab League - outdoor sticks are fine!

Glove for LEFT Hand - strongly encouraged!
The indoor game is played very low to the ground and your LEFT hand is an extension of your stick! It is encouraged that all players have at least a LEFT hand glove (you can have RIGHT too!). Your LEFT hand is guaranteed to get hit by a stick or ball at least 1x during the indoor season, so keep it protected!
Do Players need to have prior FH playing experience?
No! Prior playing experience is NOT required to play in any of our Youth Indoor Leagues. We will teach you the fundamentals of FH, and hopefully help you fall in love with the game!
Field Hockey is still growing in Frederick County, so our goal is to get a field hockey stick in the hands of as many players as possible! Did you know that at least half of the HS teams in Frederick County don’t have enough players to form a JV team each season? We need to work together to FIX that problem! In order for FH to become more competitive in Frederick County, we need to grow FH so that EVERY HS team has a JV team where they can learn and develop their game before the Varsity level!
So long answer short - grab your friends (whether they have played FH before or not) and let’s grow FH together this winter!
Winter Indoor Clinics
MDL is excited to be hosting our 2nd annual "Learn to Play" Toddler Clinic. It was such a huge success last winter and spring, we can’t wait to get back out on the court with the littles again this winter! During the 45min session each week, we will be working on athletic movements and coordination with the toddlers. We will also be teaching them the basics of FH in a fun, learning environment!
